Calm before the storm

It was that time again for roaring engines and clouds of smoke. Fortunately, this was my first event to witness for the 2011 season. I really missed drifting during the off season, so i was pleased to spend time with the team. The guys were in full force and the rx-8 was in tip top shape.

It wasn't very surprising to see half the field with 8 cylinders. Personally, i would take the sound of the angry 3 rotor hitting rev limiter over majority of the v8s anyday. It was very easy to identify the full tilt rx-8 on track due to ear popping back fires.

Joon was ripping it during the day. He seems to be one with the car. Very relaxed and almost second nature with his reactions. Unfortunately, we were stopped by a fellow drift alliance brother during the top 32.

Although it wasn't the best way to start off. This made us more hungry and determined to charge for our victory. Joon and the team have progressed dramatically throughout the years and i can't wait to see what lies ahead. I had a great time in long beach as always. Got to see my brother, the team, good friends, and enjoy the less humid weather ;) Until then, Atlanta will be a shocker.
